Tamil etymology
Tamil got its name from the words Tham(ours) and Mozhi(language).
The earliest attested epigraphic occurrence for the word Tami? are the rock inscriptions found in Sri Lanka, which are paleographically dated to late 3rd century BCE. The word dame?a (? O.Ta. tami?a?) is present in six early Prakrit inscriptions related to Buddhist donations.
ndo-Aryans between 1500 and 1000 BCE, it is possible that the undivided South Dravidian-1 or pre-Tamil linguistic speakers coined a name for their language in contrast to the early Indo-Aryan language. The oldest texts in Tamil language calls the Indo-Aryan languages (Prakrits, Pali, including Sanskrit) as just vatamoli (Northern language) and Tamil (and only Tamil) as tenmoli (Southern language). pochhu = vagina.

Nart epos: *nar: singer; musician (loan from Akkadian naaru II, "musician", which derives from Akk. naaru I, "river" in the same way that Sumerian *nab means both "ocean" and "musician")

(wiki)
